Four women sign up for a carpentry workshop to find the tutor has absconded with their fees and left behind Woody (Steve McAdams), her disgruntled husband.  Annabel (Bronwen Foxx), Louise (Nicole Domett), Helen (Trish Marsden) and Siobahn (Jess Armstrong) invade Woody's man cave and persuade him to run the course. His neatly ordered sanctuary will never be the same, And neither will they. A comedy about unlikely friendships and finding empowerment with power tools.

CHARACTER BIOS

  • Counsellor in private practice. She also runs the Dickens Book Club. Was an active feminist in the early 80's. She wants to build a Victorian-style display cabinet for her complete works of Dickens. Played by Bron.

  • A nurse. Moved home to care for her parents. Has many dark shadows in her life and is easily spooked. She wants to build a small house - one day. Played by Nicole.

  • Prefers horses to people. She has two grownup sons to different fathers, both of whom were jockeys. She never married. She wants to build a coffin. Played by Trish.

  • Irish. Lives with her cousin. Works at the local vet clinic and is in love with Martin, a vet, who has extraordinary hands, but is married. She wants to build a luxury dog kennel to snugly house Martin's labradoodle. Played by Jess.

  • A carpenter recently made redundant. Married for four years to Maggie. Recently separated. Knows about tools but thinks empowerment sounds like something you plug in a wall socket. She wants a way to get these bloody women out of his workshop! Played by Steve.
